Klaus Schwab - new age or same old, same old

If you haven't heard of Klaus Schwab, then you probably don't know about the World Economic Forum that is held in Devos, Switzerland, in January every year. Schwab is a founder and regular speaker.

One of the key positions the WEF takes is that the world needs to act as a sum of focused interests rather than as single entities. It is collaboration and partnership that are the way of the future, and, the future is now.

In and of itself, this isn't a new proposal. Visionaries like Marshall McLuhan have talked about the age of the global village; when technology brings us all so close that our problems, experience, and future, is shared by all.

It is a natural progression then that as 'the public' get access to information, they then have the power to make decisions for themselves, rather than to be told what decision has been taken. The stakeholder is greater than the sum of it's parts. Governments need to be reminded that they are elected by the people to work for the people; they are not a dictatorship imposing their will on the people. Collaboration is a necessity if we, as a world population, are to survive.
